Across from the cathedral is the six-story Hotel Astoria, designed by Fyodor Lidval in 1911-1912 as one of the most luxurious in the Russian Empire. The poet Sergei Yesenin committed suicide in the hotel. At the end of the street to the left you can see the spire of the Admiralty Building.
